Baseball Recap: Central Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

While Central didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-16-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Ruskin Golden Eagles a 9-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Indians have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Porter Colboch looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Pete Berry was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. Sam Massey was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Central pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Ruskin, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will challenge Chrisman at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.63 runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Ruskin, they will take on University Academy Charter at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles are facing the Gryphons at the right time seeing as the Gryphons are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
