After only six points in their last match, The Carolina W Wildcats made sure to put some points up on the board against the Copper Basin Cougars on Friday. Carolina W breezed by Copper Basin on the road to the tune of 58-26. The result was nothing new for Carolina W, who have now won four matchups by 32 points or more so far this season.
Carolina W found their leader in underclassman Jericus Mackey, who rushed for 277 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 17.3 yards per carry. Mackey's longest rush was for an incredible 85 yards. Another player making a difference was Mike Barnett , who rushed for 41 yards and three touchdowns.
Carolina W's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Titus Hendricks and Xzavion Howard who racked up five sacks between them.
Carolina W's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Copper Basin, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Carolina W is on the road again on Thursday and play against South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind at 7:00 p.m. on October 26th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind is ranked 22nd, while Carolina W is ranked 13th). As for Copper Basin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sale Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sale Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Copper Basin likes a good challenge.
