The Scotia-Glenville Tartans will take on the Glens Falls Indians at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Scotia-Glenville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They blew past Johnstown, posting a 71-11 victory on the road. Given Scotia-Glenville's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while the Sir Bills are ranked 618th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Scotia-Glenville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karaline Mccarthy, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jess Bodden, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Glens Falls' and the Tigers' contest on Monday was close at halftime, but the Indians turned on the heat in the second half with 30 points. Everything went Glens Falls' way against the Tigers as the Indians made off with a 51-31 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Glens Falls.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Glens Falls to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sarah Wolfstich, who scored 11 points. Darielle Gooden was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Scotia-Glenville pushed their record up to 11-6 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 50.7 points. As for Glens Falls, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Scotia-Glenville won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in January, slipping by the Indians 40-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Scotia-Glenville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
