The Taylor County Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Maclay Marauders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Taylor County and Chipley were almost perfectly matched up, but Taylor County suffered an agonizing 15-14 defeat. Taylor County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Dj Mccoy put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 154 yards on only ten carries. Mccoy really tore up the turf during one magnificent 90-yard run.
Even if they lost, Taylor County's defense still kept up the pressure with six sacks. Leading the way was Madden Metcalf and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, even though Rocky Bayou Christian scored an imposing 34 points on Friday, Maclay still came out on top. Maclay took down Rocky Bayou Christian 49-34.
George Grant continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 259 yards and three touchdowns. Tucker Poppell and his 84 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Maclay's victory.
Chipley's victory bumped their season record to 5-2 while Taylor County's loss dropped theirs to 2-7.
Taylor County came up short against Maclay in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 50-43. Thankfully for Taylor County, Michael Grant (who threw for 313 yards and six touchdowns while completing 79.3% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
