The Perry Yellowjackets will head out on the road to square off against the Letchworth Legends at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Perry will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Perry was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Mount Morris on Monday. The Yellowjackets blew past the Blue Devils 16-6. With that win, the Yellowjackets brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Parker McGarvey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
McGarvey wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Charles Derin, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those runs marked the first that Derin has scored this season. Izaiah Hernandez was another, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases and one run.
Perry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, while Letchworth put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Warsaw. The Legends were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over the Tigers. The victory continues a trend for the Legends in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won eight in a row.
The team relied heavily on Brody Whalen, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Mann, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The win got Perry back to even at 3-3. As for Letchworth, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Perry has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Letchworth struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Perry beat Letchworth 13-9 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Legends have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
