The Highland Hawks were the 70-55 winner over the Desert Ridge Jaguars when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. Highland fell 59-48 to the Jaguars on Friday. Highland has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emilee Searle, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Searle has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Riggs, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Saige Miller continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Desert Ridge, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. Miller is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Kaycee Steinke was another key contributor, scoring 23 points.
Highland's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Desert Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.
Highland will head out on the road to face off against the Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Desert Ridge, they and the Aztecs will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Corona del Sol is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
