Basketball Recap: Heritage Christian Academy Triumphs

Heritage Christian Academy hadn't beaten Ahoskie Christian on the road since December 3, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, the Patriots made off with a 51-50 victory over Ahoskie Christian. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Patriots also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Ahoskie Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Damion Walker and Jaelen Rascoe. Walker dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards, while Rascoe went 9-for-22 en route to 18 points and seven rebounds. Ahoskie Christian is 2-1 when Walker posts eight or more rebounds, but 0-3 otherwise. Ian Leary was another key player, putting up eight points.

Heritage Christian Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Ahoskie Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Heritage Christian Academy and Ahoskie Christian will both be playing Terra Ceia Christian the next time they take the court. Ahoskie Christian will head out to face the Knights at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Patriots will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
