Even though the Ocean View Christian Patriots scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, the Liberty Charter Lions still came out on top. Liberty Charter narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Ocean View Christian 58-56. The win made it back-to-back wins for Liberty Charter.
Liberty Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Duke Dengerink, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. Dengerink hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. Joel Bray was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds.
Liberty Charter's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-9. As for Ocean View Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty Charter will take on Chula Vista Learning Community Charter at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chula Vista Learning Community Charter has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Ocean View Christian, they will play host again and welcome The Cambridge School, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
