2A-2 Region III District 10 recap October 22, 2013
West Rusk scaled the state rankings by moving to 945 from 985 this week, the biggest jump in 2A-2 Region III District 10. The Raiders climbed the ranks as a result of besting Winona 35-28.
Union Grove fell to Arp 47-10 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tristen Thompson was a bright spot for the Lions, as he threw for 112 yards and ran for 71 yards in the loss.
West Rusk's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. George Anthony threw for 51 and 1 touchdown and Dakota McCoy had 51 yards receiving. On the ground Anthony chipped in 232 yards.
John Frazier's team's dynamic duo of Anthony and McCoy proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Anthony was a beast in the backfield as the Raiders topped Winona.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Thomas Reese. The Arp star has 15 catches for 382 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Union Grove takes on Hawkins. At the moment, Roger Adams' team is in fifth, while the Hawks are in second.
West Rusk made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,764 from 11,264. The advance stemmed from a 35-28 victory over the Wildcats last week.
