The Liberty Lancers lost a heartbreaker to the Chaparral Wolverines when they met back in January of 2015, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. Liberty fell just short of Chaparral by a score of 46-44. Liberty has struggled against Chaparral recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Liberty still got an impressive performance from Ava Dawes, who scored 16 points. Samira Gantt was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
Chaparral found their leader in underclassman Lauren Thompson, who scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Thompson has scored at least 25% of Chaparral's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Lentell, who scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
Liberty now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Chaparral, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Liberty will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Columbine at 11:00 a.m. on December 2nd. Columbine has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 184 points over their last three matchups. As for Chaparral, they will take on Rampart at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rampart will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Chaparral is ranked 33rd).
