Basketball Game Preview: Owensboro Red Devils vs. Bowling Green Purples

Owensboro is 0-3 against Bowling Green since February of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Owensboro Red Devils will host the Bowling Green Purples at 7:30 p.m. Owensboro has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Owensboro is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 75-31 win over Apollo. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Eagles are ranked 238th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Shalyn Sprinkles continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 for 9 from beyond the arc on her way to 29 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. The game was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Unique Carter-Swanagan, who posted 11 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Owensboro was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Bowling Green played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 50-29 to Franklin-Simpson. The Purples were down 47-19 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Owensboro pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Bowling Green, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
