The Colton-Pierrepont Colts's road trip will continue as they head out to face the St. Lawrence Central Larries at 7:15 p.m. on December 18th. St. Lawrence Central took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Colton-Pierrepont, who comes in off a win.
Colton-Pierrepont has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 23 points or more this season. They put the hurt on St. Regis Falls with a sharp 66-43 win on Monday. Given Colton-Pierrepont's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 180th, while St. Regis Falls is ranked 378th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eric Friedel continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Nate Smith, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, St. Lawrence Central struggled with offensive rebounds on Thursday (Tupper Lake had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. St. Lawrence Central was outmatched by Tupper Lake on the road and fell 72-44. St. Lawrence Central has struggled against Tupper Lake recently, as their game on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Austin Mason, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. Mason is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Damien Ashley, who scored nine points along with five assists.
St. Lawrence Central struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Colton-Pierrepont's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for St. Lawrence Central, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-3.
Colton-Pierrepont suffered a grim 55-35 defeat to St. Lawrence Central when the teams last played back in February. Thankfully for Colton-Pierrepont, Xavier Shattuck (who scored 18 points along with five assists and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
