The Purcell Marian Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the Zane Trace Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Purcell Marian comes in on six and Zane Trace on three.
Purcell Marian stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Madeira at home to the tune of 55-14.
Purcell Marian relied on the efforts of Sonny Ward, who threw for 248 yards and two touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes, and Jayel Harris, who rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Carlyun Neal also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Meanwhile, Zane Trace was able to grind out a solid victory over Madison on Friday, taking the game 24-14.
Zane Trace got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carter Langley out in front who rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 112 yards and a touchdown. Aaden Dunn was another key contributor, picking up 95 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Purcell Marian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Zane Trace, their win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-3.
