Richfield hasn't had much luck against Union recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will challenge the Cougars at 12:00 p.m. Richfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.7 runs per game this season.
Richfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over Ogden. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Jerzy Moon was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Mataiya Murray, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Richfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are 10-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, while Union put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Providence Hall. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Patriots. Considering the Cougars have won 13 games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Mollee Rasmussen and Payzlei Parrish did most of the damage at the plate: Rasmussen went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Parrish went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four hits gave Rasmussen a new career-high. Kallie Duncan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Richfield's record is now 15-9. As for Union, their record now sits at 21-6.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Richfield has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Richfield couldn't quite finish off Union in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 and fell 10-8. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
