Marlin is 10-0 against Wortham since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Marlin Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wortham Bulldogs at 6:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Marlin has five straight wins, Wortham has 27 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Marlin stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They breezed by Hubbard at home to the tune of 81-9. Given Marlin's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Hubbard is ranked 1254th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kya Mitchell continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 37 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaria Johnson, who scored 19 points along with six assists and five steals.
Wortham suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 two weeks ago. They were dealt a 44-7 loss at the hands of Dawson.
Marlin's victory bumped their record up to 20-3. As for Wortham, their defeat was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-15.
Everything came up roses for Marlin against Wortham when the teams last played on January 2nd as the team secured a 94-14 win. Does Marlin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wortham turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
