Basketball Recap: Father Mcgivney Catholic Skates Past Sandoval with Ease

Father McGivney Catholic entered their tilt with Sandoval on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Sandoval Blackhawks 55-22. The Griffins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 24 points or more this season.

Father McGivney Catholic got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Layla Tobin out in front who went 5-for-10 on her way to 14 points and five assists. That's the most points Tobin has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Ellis, who put up six points along with eight boards and five assists.

Tobin wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Father McGivney Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sandoval only racked up six assists.

Father McGivney Catholic's win bumped their record up to 17-10. As for Sandoval, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10.

Father McGivney Catholic has already played their next match, a 48-44 defeat against Collinsville on the 5th. As for Sandoval, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 43-34 victory against Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City on the 4th.
