Softball Recap: Leading Edge Academy - GEC Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against ALA - Anthem South, Leading Edge Academy - GEC was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the St. Augustine Catholic Wolves with a sharp 20-13 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Spartans have posted against the Wolves since April 16, 2018.

Anna Pena made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Leading Edge Academy - GEC got a massive performance out of Corynn Foster, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Foster is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Evelyn Ibarra was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-4.

Leading Edge Academy - GEC always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Augustine Catholic only posted an OBP of .417.

The win snapped Leading Edge Academy - GEC's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 2-4 record. As for St. Augustine Catholic, they moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Leading Edge Academy - GEC wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 9-7 victory against Hayden on the 14th. As for St. Augustine Catholic, they will face off against Santa Cruz Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
