The Onaway Cardinals put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Johannesburg-Lewiston at home to the tune of 85-51. Fans of Onaway have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Austin Veal was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Onaway's points. Another player making a difference was Jadin Mix, who scored 11 points.
Onaway pushed their record up to 4-0 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Johannesburg-Lewiston, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Onaway will head out on the road to face off against Rogers City at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Rogers City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while Onaway is ranked 159th). Johannesburg-Lewiston will be home for the holidays to greet Alcona at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Alcona is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
