Burroughs has gone a perfect 10-0 against Muir recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Burroughs will be playing in front of their home fans against Muir at 3:30 p.m. Burroughs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Burroughs is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering El Toro just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers.
Valentina Clemons was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Burroughs saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Karlee Earl, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Another was Sophie Rangsiyawong, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Muir won against Poly on Saturday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Muir came out on top in a nail-biter against Western Christian, sneaking past 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since February 22nd.
Gianna (GiGi) Butler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Abigail (Abi) Milton, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Alyssa Perez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Muir was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The win made it two in a row for Muir and bumps their season record up to 9-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Burroughs, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Burroughs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .391. However, it's not like Muir struggles in that department as they've averaged .386. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Burroughs was able to grind out a solid win over Muir when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 9-6. Does Burroughs have another victory up their sleeve, or will Muir turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
