Baseball Recap: Ware Shoals Sets Scoring Season-High Against Calhoun Falls Charter

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ware Shoals). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Calhoun Falls Charter Blue Flashes a 20-0 shutout on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Blue Flashes: they've now won nine in a row.

Dalton Boyter made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Brayden Madden and Jayden Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Madden scored three runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Johnson went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Goode, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Ware Shoals was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Ware Shoals' victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

Coincidentally, Ware Shoals and Calhoun Falls Charter will both be playing Abbeville the next time they take the field. Ware Shoals will head out to face Abbeville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Calhoun Falls Charter will host them at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th.
