Despite the loss, Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South saw an underclassman step up: Amaya Johnson scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cayla Wiley, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Gwynn Park unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 55-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Forest Park.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Geornae Davis, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Pitts, who scored eight points.
Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season. As for Gwynn Park, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.
