Westview hasn't had much luck against Omaha Westside recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wolverines are taking a road trip to take on the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Westview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Westview is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Mount Michael Benedictine on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 2-1.
Markel Newton was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Mitchell Piatt made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-6 with one home run and one double.
Meanwhile, Omaha Westside waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Everything went their way against the Bears as they made off with a 27-4 victory. Considering the Warriors have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Ty Hanna was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with five runs, one double, and one RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Schleifer, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Omaha Westside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .814. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Omaha Westside's record is now 16-2. As for Westview, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Westview has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456. However, it's not like Omaha Westside struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Westview couldn't quite get it done against Omaha Westside in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 as they fell 11-8. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
