The Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians waltzed into their match Saturday with five straight wins but they left with six. They walked away with a 51-40 win over Carterville. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Carlyle also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Emma Meyer continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Carlyle's points. Another player making a difference was Mati Stanart, who scored ten points.
When it comes to explaining why Carterville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amayah Doyle. Despite the final result, she scored 27 points along with nine rebounds. The game was Doyle's 20th in a row with at least ten points.
Carlyle's win bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Carterville, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carlyle is on the road again on Monday and play against Nashville at 7:45 p.m. on January 8th. Nashville will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive. As for Carterville, they will head out on the road to face off against Herrin at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
