Softball Game Preview: Scholars Guild Academy Spartans vs. Peachtree Academy Panthers

For the second straight game, Scholars Guild Academy will face off against Peachtree Academy. Scholars Guild Academy will look to defend their home field on Friday against Peachtree Academy at 4:00 p.m. Scholars Guild Academy will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Scholars Guild Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Georgia's top teams: Peachtree Academy, who was ranked fourth at the time (Scholars Guild Academy was ranked second). Scholars Guild Academy never let Peachtree Academy get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Thursday. Fans of the Spartans have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Madison Kenny was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Noelle Boeckman was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kerrigan Welch, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base.

Scholars Guild Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Scholars Guild Academy's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.2 runs over those games. As for Peachtree Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-6.
