Basketball Recap: Lewistown's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Lewistown ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-43 win over the Stark County Rebels. The Indians have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rebels, too.

Lewistown found their leader in freshman Carsyn Braun, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 14 points and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Braun has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Wiegand, who posted 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Stark County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sophie Finnegan, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emily Demetreon, who had nine points and eight boards.

Lewistown's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7. As for Stark County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Lewistown and Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia will round out the year against one another at at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lewistown is facing Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia at the right time seeing as Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Stark County, they will face off against Erie-Prophetstown at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Stark County will also cruise into their next match with the timing on their side: Erie-Prophetstown will have lost seven straight heading into Friday's contest.
