On Wednesday, Paynesville was beaten by Perham 71-35. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Paynesville has scored all season.
Willow Thiel was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 20 rebounds for Perham. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Thiel has scored at least 25% of Perham's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cora Grismer, who scored 14 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Paynesville and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for Perham, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Paynesville won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sauk Centre on December 28th. Sauk Centre presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Paynesville in Minnesota (Sauk Centre is ranked 41st, while Paynesville is ranked 135th).
