On Wednesday, Paynesville was beaten by Perham 71-35. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Paynesville has scored all season.
Willow Thiel was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 20 rebounds for Perham. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Thiel has scored at least 25% of Perham's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cora Grismer, who scored 14 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Paynesville and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for Perham, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Paynesville won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sauk Centre on December 28th. Sauk Centre presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Paynesville in Minnesota (Sauk Centre is ranked 41st, while Paynesville is ranked 135th). Perham won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pine City on December 28th.
