Even though the Pius X Thunderbolts scored an imposing 60 points on Saturday, the Bellevue West Thunderbirds still came out on top. Bellevue West walked away with a 67-60 victory over Pius X. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Bellevue West also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Bellevue West was led to victory by Steven Poulicek and Robby Garcia. Poulicek scored 19 points, while Garcia scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds. Jaden Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Pius X's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Treyson Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Anderson scored a full 30% of Pius X's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Searcey, who scored 12 points.
Bellevue West's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Pius X, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bellevue West will square off against Totino-Grace on Saturday. As for Pius X, they will head out on the road to face off against Westview at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
