The Ferriday Trojans will be playing at home against the Jonesboro-Hodge Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ferriday is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
Ferriday lost a heartbreaker to Rayville when they met back in September of 2021, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. Ferriday received a tough blow as they fell 52-34 to Rayville. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
The losing side was boosted by Chris Reed jr, who picked up 85 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Reed jr was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. Taevion Edwards was another key contributor, rushing for 134 yards.
Even if they lost, Ferriday's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Reed jr was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Meanwhile, Jonesboro-Hodge was able to grind out a solid victory over Winnfield on Friday, taking the game 30-20. The win made it back-to-back wins for Jonesboro-Hodge.
Ferriday has yet to win a match at home this season, leaving them with a 4-6 record. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Rayville, Mangham, and Oak Grove. As for Jonesboro-Hodge, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Ferriday barely slipped by Jonesboro-Hodge in their previous meeting back in October of 2014, winning 15-14. Will Ferriday repeat their success, or does Jonesboro-Hodge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
