It was a good run, but the South Bronx Prep Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. Their rough 83-57 defeat to Broome Street Academy might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points South Bronx Prep has scored all season.
Broome Street Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Demitrius Gould led the charge by scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Gould pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Foster, who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, ten rebounds, and 12 steals.
South Bronx Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 6-1. As for Broome Street Academy, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Bronx Prep won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Westminster at 7:00 p.m. on December 30th. Westminster will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 697th in California, while South Bronx Prep is ranked 63rd in New York). As for Broome Street Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Our Saviour Lutheran at 5:00 p.m.
