It was a good run, but the Classical Saints unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 45-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ell-Saline. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Classical of the 54-51 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Defeat or not, Classical got some senior leadership from Sam Wilkey and Tait Sinclair. Wilkey scored ten points along with nine rebounds, while Sinclair. scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Isaac Yourdon, who scored three points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Classical's defeat dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Ell-Saline, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Classical won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Bennington at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th. As for Ell-Saline, Ell-Saline and Moundridge will face off on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Moundridge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Ell-Saline likes a good challenge.
