The Glenn Falcons pushed their score all the way to 64 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 87-64 walloping at the hands of South Bend Clay. Even though they lost, Glenn's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 53.5 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
When it comes to explaining why Glenn lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joe Chrapliwy. Despite the final result, he scored 31 points along with 5 rebounds. Chrapliwy scored a full 48.4% of Glenn's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Joey Shoue, who scored 8 points.
South Bend Clay's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyrese Jones, who scored 25 points along with 9 assists and 5 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least 25% of South Bend Clay's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahmad King, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 10 steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Glenn and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for South Bend Clay, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glenn will challenge Elkhart at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Elkhart is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for South Bend Clay, they will head out on the road to face off against Penn at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
