The Clay County Bulldogs lost against the Pickett County Bobcats on January 5th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The contest between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Clay County falling 67-52. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Pickett County is ranked 93rd).
Leading Pickett County to victory were Eli Reagan and Jacob Amonett. Reagan scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Amonett scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Reagan hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Gage Harris was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Clay County has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Pickett County, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Clarkrange the next time they take the court. Pickett County will head out to face Clarkrange at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Clay County will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
