Willapa Valley has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Tuesday. They will square off against the Columbia Adventist Academy Kodiaks at 6:00 p.m. Willapa Valley will be strutting in after a win while Columbia Adventist Academy will be coming in after a defeat.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact Willapa Valley proved on Friday. They breezed by Oakville at home to the tune of 36-7.
Willapa Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addison Merkel led the charge by scoring 12 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. Another player making a difference was Tylar Keeton, who scored 5 points along with 10 rebounds and 5 blocks.
Meanwhile, Columbia Adventist Academy took a serious blow against Winlock on Thursday, falling 67-34.
The losses dropped Willapa Valley to 1-1 and Oakville to 0-3.
Everything went Willapa Valley's way against Columbia Adventist Academy when the teams last played back in February as Willapa Valley made off with a 45-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Willapa Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
