Omaha Westside has gone 8-2 against Omaha North recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Omaha Westside Warriors will be playing at home against the Omaha North Vikings at 5:15 p.m. Omaha Westside is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.6 points per game this season.
Omaha Westside is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Millard North, who was ranked tenth at the time (Omaha Westside was ranked seventh). Omaha Westside fell just short of Millard North by a score of 69-66 on Thursday. That makes it the first time this season the Warriors have let down their home crowd.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was London Dada, who went 6 for 11 en route to 21 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Lee Robinson, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Omaha Westside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Omaha North came up short against Buena Vista on Friday and fell 59-47.
Omaha Westside will have to contain Jerri'On Williams as he made an impact in Omaha North's last game. He went 7 for 17 to rack up 18 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Amillio Coppage-Wheeler, who went 5 of 10 en route to 11 points and six rebounds.
Omaha North's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Omaha Westside, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 16-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Omaha Westside has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Omaha North struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Omaha Westside strolled past Omaha North in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 74-60. Will Omaha Westside repeat their success, or does Omaha North have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
