Alexander is 1-9 against Meigs since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Spartans will welcome the Marauders at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Alexander is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Federal Hocking on Friday as they made off with a 22-9 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.
Alexander got a massive performance out of Jordan Sheets, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with six stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Sheets has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Allyza Young, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
Alexander always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .738. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .581 that Federal Hocking posted.
Meanwhile, Meigs hadn't done well against Athens recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Marauders' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Marauders have won 13 contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Natalie Goode made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Roush, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Newell, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Alexander's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Meigs, their win bumped their record up to 17-1.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Alexander has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. However, it's not like Meigs struggles in that department as they've averaged .504. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Alexander might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Meigs in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
