It was a good run, but the Floresville Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell to Marble Falls 56-51. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Floresville came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while Marble Falls is ranked 1073rd).
Despite the loss, Floresville still got an impressive performance from Jordin Johns, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 steals. The game was Johns' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alissa Hilario, who scored five points.
Floresville's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Marble Falls, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-15.
Floresville will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Tivy at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tivy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Marble Falls and Katy Taylor will round out the year against one another at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Katy Taylor knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Marble Falls likes a good challenge.
