The Faith Christian Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Tri-County Cavaliers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Faith Christian has given up an average of 13.7 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Faith Christian came up short against West Lafayette on Thursday, falling 12-2. The Eagles have struggled against the Red Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Faith Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Hill, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Hill has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Tri-County came tearing into Friday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Trojans.
Madilyn Nevitt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Grace Luck was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Zarse, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Tri-County's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average this season. As for Faith Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
Faith Christian came up short against Tri-County when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 8-4. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
