West Elk has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the South Haven Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, West Elk came up short against Remington and fell 54-44. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Elk in their matchups with Remington: they've now lost four in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Garett Usry, who scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Maddex Moreno, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, South Haven pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Oxford 65-59. While losing is never fun, South Haven can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while Oxford is ranked 100th).
West Elk's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for South Haven, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.
West Elk strolled past South Haven in their previous matchup on Saturday by a score of 65-48. Will West Elk repeat their success, or does South Haven have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
