The Whitko Wildcats won the last time they faced the Prairie Heights Panthers, and things went their way on Thursday too. Whitko snuck past Prairie Heights with a 49-43 victory.
Leading Whitko to victory were Reese Stonebraker and Jayma Stonebraker. Stonebraker scored 11 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Stonebraker scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Adriyanna Phillips, who scored 12 points.
Prairie Heights lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sarah Park, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. Park continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckinlee Kain, who scored five points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Whitko is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Prairie Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitko won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wabash at 7:45 p.m. on December 22nd. Wabash has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Prairie Heights will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Leo at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Hopefully Leo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Saturday.
