Basketball Recap: Evansville North Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Bryson Chapman and Kellen English

Evansville North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Jeffersonville Red Devils, falling 68-44. The Huskies were not able to make up for their defeat to the Red Devils from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Evansville North's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kellen English, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine blocks, and Bryson Chapman, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. English is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Carson Cashmer, who posted five points.

Jeffersonville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but P.J. Douglas led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. That's the most rebounds Douglas has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Cooper, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 15 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Evansville North's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Jeffersonville, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Evansville North wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 45-43 win against Gibson Southern on the 13th. As for Jeffersonville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-61 loss against Pike on the 7th.
