Baseball Recap: Jasper Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Jasper took a 31-run defeat the last time they faced off against Viola, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pirates skirted past the Longhorns 8-7. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Blake Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jase Willis was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those stolen bases marked the first that he has snagged this season. Jayce Rylee was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Jasper's record now sits at 6-1. As for Viola, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Looking ahead, Jasper is taking a road trip to take on Flippin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Viola, they have already played their next game, an 8-7 loss against Izard County on the 31st.
