Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Central

Central had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 68-61 victory over the Cheraw Braves. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 57-52 win the Braves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Demetrius Myers, who posted 25 points. With that strong performance, Myers is now averaging an impressive 16 points per game. Caden Edmond was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cheraw only racked up 11 assists.

Despite the loss, Cheraw still got an impressive performance from De'Shaun Drake, who went 9 of 15 on his way to 25 points and eight rebounds. Drake continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Strong, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

Central pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Cheraw, their record now sits at 6-8.

The future could be bright for both Central and Cheraw: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Central will try to hand Buford their fifth-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cheraw will try to hand Chesterfield their fourth-straight loss when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
