In what's become a running theme this season, the Sierra Chieftains gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They claimed a resounding 80-42 victory over Yosemite at home. Winning may never get old, but Sierra sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Yosemite lost, one person who can't be blamed is Scott Phillips. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Phillips has scored all season. Josiah Gallegos was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Sierra is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Yosemite, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16.
Sierra won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against East Union at 5:30 p.m. on January 27th. East Union is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Yosemite, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Riverdale at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Riverdale is ranked 1240th, while Yosemite is ranked 1257th).
