The Maywood CES Wolfpack's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Marquez 92-27. Maywood CES was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-16.
Lamont White Jr was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with eight assists and five rebounds for Marquez. White Jr has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Another player making a difference was Elyjah Staples, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Maywood CES's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Marquez, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Maywood CES won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Elizabeth at 4:00 p.m. on January 25th. Elizabeth is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Marquez, they will head out on the road to square off against Maywood Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Maywood Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
