Softball Recap: Stringer Starts Season with Victory Against Raleigh

Stringer gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Raleigh Lions. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Madilyn Graham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Stringer saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylei Pickerell, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Pickerell has posted since back in April of 2024.

Raleigh is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stringer will face off against South Jones at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Raleigh, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions challenge the Panthers at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
