The Bell Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Williston Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bell's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Williston's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Last Tuesday, Bell made easy work of Riverside Christian and carried off a 13-2 win. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Wranglers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Jackson Philman made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Philman was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Lopez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brandon Aguilar, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Bell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .591. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Williston came up short against Vanguard on Wednesday and fell 9-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost four in a row.
Williston saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Martin, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Williston's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Bell, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bell has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Williston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bell came up short against Williston in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 4-0. Can Bell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
