3A Region I District 4 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Zane Helms of Greenwood ran for the longest rushing play in 3A Region I District 4 this season against Lamesa last week. Helms ran for 55 yards on the play and finished with 59 on the day as his team bested the Tornadoes.
Wylie extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Estacado, 40-6. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Greenwood's dynamic duo of Kam Williams and Colin Sullivan proved tough for Lamesa to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Williams threw for 334 yards and four touchdowns and Sullivan had 107 yards receiving. Javier Vizcaino helped Greenwood's passing attack out by catching five balls for 90 yards.
Rickey Harcrow made the biggest impact on defense this week as Shad Hanna's team bested David Ritchey's team. The 6-foot-1 defensive end forced one fumble and racked up 2.5 sacks.
D'Vincent Allison was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 30 carries, he ran for 160 yards as Snyder defeated the Tornadoes. Brandon Davis also contributed to the rushing game with 31 yards on the ground.
6-foot-3 quarterback Williams of Greenwood is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1254. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. On the ground, the Tigers' Davis has rushed for 698 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Devin Roberson. The Big Spring star has 22 catches for 392 yards.
Wylie was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Matadors 40-6. Hugh Sandifer's team came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
