It was a proper cat-fight when Forman took on Storm King on Friday. The Lions put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 19-1 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lions considering their one-run performance the game before.
Tyler Tegnelia made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Tegnelia was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Leo Carbonell was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jack Adams, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Marianapolis Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over Varsity Opponent on Wednesday. The Golden Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Marianapolis Prep also got a great performance from Nick Vanfleet as he didn't allow a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched.
At the plate, Boris Valdez was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Those runs were his first of the season. Owen Richardson was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Marianapolis Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Marianapolis Prep's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Forman, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Forman suffered a grim 10-2 defeat to Marianapolis Prep when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
