The San Ramon Valley Wolves will venture away from home to challenge the California Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
San Ramon Valley had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Dougherty Valley on Tuesday. The Wolves were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Wildcats. The victory was familiar territory for the Wolves, who have now won five games in a row.
Lila McLeod looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Addie Layous was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Neighbor, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
San Ramon Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, California had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Mustangs.
California let Jayda Crosby and Hailey King run wild. Crosby went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while King went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave King a new career-high. Emma Golde was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
San Ramon Valley's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for California, their record now sits at 14-6.
San Ramon Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against California when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
