The Mission Hills Grizzlies and the St. Augustine Saints squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Mission Hills Grizzlies had to settle for second. They took a 13-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saints. Mission Hills' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
The team lost despite holding St. Augustine to a paltry no rushing yards and no passing yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Mission Hills' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out three times before it was all said and done. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jonathon Class.
St. Augustine found their leader in underclassman Honor Faalave-johnson, who rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns.
Mission Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 8-4-1. As for St. Augustine, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Mission Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Augustine will be playing at home against St. Bonaventure at 7:00 p.m. on December 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (St. Bonaventure is ranked 31st, while St. Augustine is ranked 39th).
